Even though I haven’t been working for anyone, I’ve been doing business online (affiliate marketing, selling on ebay and stuff) and I’d like to know if I could use this number to pay taxes or should I get one of those ITIN numbers.
I came to the states with a Work and travel program for students, so they issued a SSN that I could only use to work during that time. I went back to my country and then came back with a tourist visa. Even though I haven’t been working for anyone, I’ve been doing business online (affiliate marketing, selling on ebay and stuff) and most networks ask me to file a W-9. Currently I don’t have DHS authorization to work, but I want to know if I could still use my SSN to pay taxes for the money I’m making online or if it could get me in trouble.

You must use the SSN.
(You only get an ITIN if you *can’t* get an SSN.)

As long as you have a Department of Homeland Security authorization, then use the SSN.

You MUST use your SSN. You can’t get an ITIN if you have an SSN.
BTW, the requirement to secure authorization from DHS or USCIS includes self-employment. Working outside of any authorization puts your visa status at risk.

You have SSN so you don’t need ITIN.
ITIN is issued only when you can not get SSN.
Use SSN to pay taxes and file your tax return.
